THE GULF RADIO AND TELEVISION FESTIVAL

The Gulf Radio and Television Festival is a significant media gathering that highlights the artistic and technical achievements realized in the various areas of radio and television production both on the Gulf and the Arab levels. It also represents a window of opportunities for communication with the international arena in such areas through the exchange of ideas, experiences and expertise. Furthermore, the Festival fosters closer links between professionals to boost up radio and television production, promote inspiring competitiveness and support creative talents.
The Festival was launched in Kuwait in January 1980. The festival competitions remained confined to television production until radio programs were admitted to the official competition during the Seventh Session, which was held in Bahrain in February 2001.
Since its inception, the Festival has set the stage for numerous seminars and forums that were attended by Arab as well as international specialists and experts. Tying in with the latest intellectual issues and media hot topics, these seminars and forums have covered almost all areas relating to radio and television.
To foster better media production and promote distribution in the region, our organization (GulfVision) endeavors to attract the most important companies in the areas of radio and television to participate in the Market to be held concurrently with the Festival, as one of its major activities.
The Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival, one of the oldest Arab festivals, was launched almost thirty years ago. It paid tribute to about seventy media groundbreakers who have contributed to the Gulf media processes.
During its latest two sessions, the Festival went through all-out renovation and refurbishment affecting all its activities, along the lines of the ongoing developments in the media production and distribution milieus.
This has led to doubling the number of participants in the Radio and Television Production Market, along with an increasing demand to participate in the various Festival Competitions. The Festival organizers were also keen on choosing significant topics touching the needs of professionals working in the various areas of radio and television to be the focus of its intellectual seminars and forums. Furthermore, the Festival managed to attract experts and specialists from outside the Gulf region to participate in these seminars and enrich its discussions by presenting the most important Arab as well as international experiences and practice.
The most famous radio and television stars in the Gulf and the Arab world, as well as eminent officials and executives responsible for radio and television, attend the Festival.
The Eleventh Session of the Gulf Radio and Television Production Festival, held from 9 to 12 February 2010, will comprise several key events including an international seminar on "Economic Media" and another on "children's programs", in addition to a workshop on "Various Ways to make the most out of the Festival”.
